On Sunday, 4th May 2025, the time had come for the fourth go: A team of 47 motivated runners from AbbVie Switzerland took part in the Wings for Life World Run in Zug. The team consisted of 29 AbbVie employees, 18 family members and friends. Together, this great team ran over 630 kilometres for a good cause.
The mission of the race is to find a cure for spinal cord injuries by supporting pioneering research projects worldwide. 100 per cent of the entry fees and donations are therefore channelled directly into this research. Is there a better reason to run than for those who can’t?
Despite a downpour right at the start, cloudy skies and a temperature of 15 degrees, there was an excellent atmosphere that spurred the AbbVie team on. The unique conditions of the race offer all runners the freedom to achieve a personal goal: as soon as the catcher car catches up with you, the run ends individually, which takes the pressure off and emphasises the fun.
But the run is more than just a sporting event – it strengthens team spirit and promotes camaraderie. After the run, the team gathered for a refreshing drink and chatted about their experiences on the course. This exchange strengthened the sense of community and provided an opportunity to make new acquaintances and cultivate old friendships.
Events like these, in particular, show how much we value team cohesion and community involvement at AbbVie. With this in mind, we are already looking forward to the Wings for Life World Run in May 2026!
